Escape games in German language teaching

The diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of escape rooms and their use in education. Firstly, a theoretical basis was created in which the individual components of escape rooms were elaborated in detail. Understanding all the components, their functions and the whole concept provided the opportunity to explain the applicability of escape rooms in education, specifically to outline the possibilities and limits of escape rooms. These have been described from both a technical and a pedagogical perspective. Escape rooms have been put in the context of pedagogical theory, where they have found support both in the curriculum and in other pedagogical principles. The roles of both teacher and students in this regard were characterized. The use of Escape Rooms in education was concretised in terms of foreign language teaching, explaining the possibilities offered by escape games in German language teaching. In the practical part of the thesis, an original escape game for German language teaching, Treasure in Vienna, was created. Escape Room as a Teaching Method in Czech Language and Literature at Upper Elementary Education

The thesis focuses on the usage of escape rooms in education. It is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part defines active learning and games, specifically educational games. Furthermore, this section explores the usage of game-based learning and escape rooms in education. The aim of the thesis was to design and describe lesson plans based on escape rooms and implement them in the Czech language and literature classes at upper elementary school level. These lesson plans were evaluated by both the teacher and the students, and recommendations for further improvements were formulated. The goal was achieved through action research where eight lesson plans of educational escape rooms were introduced. Sources of inspiration, game elements, various tasks and Czech language and literature content which can be used in escape rooms are also included, as well as feedback received from the students. The thesis disserts about marketing strategy of the corporation TheRoom. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the company marketing strategy, its marketing activities on the internet, evaluation and to create a list of opportunities, suggestions and recommendation. The theoretical part is dedicated to general meaning of marketing and other specifications of the classical and internet marketing. Practical part deals with corporate environment, including market and competition analyses. The thesis contexts also analysis of marketing communication, SWOT analysis and analysis of database of TheRooms clients. The contribution of the thesis lies in the complex view on the company, its marketing communication and whole market of escape games, which allows to create a comprehensive opinion about the current position and future develop of the company and this sector.
